Magnificum lacte is a series of drawings that I made while my daughter slept after breastfeeding. As she had an inbuilt radar and woke up the moment I left the room, I needed to find a technique that I could use in the same room which was quick, portable and easy to abandon and clean. I started using felt pens, but they were too noisy, so I changed to watercolour instead.
I was inspired by the calm and tender atmosphere, by the archetype of the madonna with baby, the spiritual and earthy connection in the act of breastfeeding reflected in the blues and golds of gothic and renaissance art and in the red and yellow tones of mother earth.
