The wrath of Samothrace

How difficult to create,

how easy to destroy.

What absurd incompetence the one that takes to arms.

Why do you kill the children that cost so much to birth and raise?

The wrath of Samothrace is an angry mother. She sees war as the failure of intelligence. Not a triumph to glorify, paint, describe and sing about. But a fatuity, rarely celebrated or waged by women.

The title of the painting alludes to the winged statue in the Louvre known as the Victory of Samothrace, created around the year 300 BC. C. The statue celebrates Nike, the goddess of victory, and a naval battle.

Acrylic and metallic paint on canvas.
