Vemod

The more I cover myself the more the sorrow emerges

Projected and present

Sad and lonely

Reflected in the turquoise waters that watch over my dreams

.

Vemod is a Swedish word that describes a calm feeling of melancholic yearning for what has been lost. A sort of inner autumn that finds expression in especially beautiful natural landscapes.

Vemod is also a painting about bereavement. It started as a self portrait through the signs of mourning in my face. But I couldn’t transmit the sadness. I gradually started covering it up, as one who hides a trauma they cannot resolve.
