The margin of the mirror

This painting is part of a set of three pregnant women having fun. It belongs to the Art Stories series, with alternative takes on classical themes and styles of art history. In this case, the women are taken from dancing male figures on ancient Greek vases, then turned into pregnant women. There are few depictions of pregnant women having fun in art history, and I wanted to address that.

The title of the painting is part of a verse from a poem called “De un fulgor a otro” (From one glare to another), by Ida Vitale.

Acrylic and metallic paint on canvas. 90cm x 70cm x 2cm
