During the moments when my daughter slept after breastfeeding, I began to paint small watercolours inspired by the mother with baby in Gothic and Renaissance paintings.
The atmosphere was tender and calm. I wanted to reflect the spiritual and earthly connection of nursing using tones of blue, gold, red, and ochre.
I needed to employ a silent technique, one that I could use in the same room, quick, portable, and easy to abandon and clean. I initially started with markers, but they made too much noise, so I switched to watercolours.
Pencil and watercolour on paper.
